It seems Skins, the new show on MTV, has provided mixed views on both extremes of the spectrum. Not only did millions tune in last week to watch the show, they had lots to say about it. On one end the youngsters LOVED the show comparing it to hit Canadian show Degrassi....but racier. On the other end, the corporate heads don't love it so much. Its just been announced that Subway is pulling their sponsorship of the program. That makes four. (The others are Taco Bell, Wrigley, and General Motors). The show is about teenagers in very racy situations. I know you ask "well if Gossip Girl can do it, why can't they do it?". Well the difference is this show actually uses kids 15-19 yrs old to provide a sense of "authenticity" whilst shows like Gossip Girl uses 20 somethings to play teenagers. Will they lose more sponsors? Its likely. The question is now what? Will MTV pull the plug or will it encourage other sponsors to jump on since now it appears numerous viewers LOVED it and want more and the popularity since the controversy has increased interest. What to do? What to do?
